Saint Cecilia’s Parish is a vibrant Roman Catholic community which has been witnessing to the Faith on French Hill since 1900.
Our towering gothic Church is the largest in Worcester County. It was built by Canadian immigrants during the great depression and was completed in 1933. It’s towers reach to 227 feet and can be seen for miles around. The interior is adorned with Spanish stained glass windows, fabricated in 1984. The large crucifix which hands over the sanctuary was carved from a single red oak tree, trunk and branches, by a parishioner, Louis E. Charpentier.
Everyone is always welcome at Saint Cecilia’s and we encourage you to visit us today. Make sure to visit the shrine of the Roman martyr Saint Cecilia on the left of the Church, which contains a wood carving of the body of the saint as it was discovered incorrupt in 1599.
A Chapel of Divine Mercy and Saint Joseph can be found to the right of the Church and contains major relics from the bodies of Saints Pope John Paul II and Faustina Kowalska. The ceiling of the chapel is adorned with gold stars which reproduce the arrangement of the constellations above Leominster on the feast of Saint Cecilia in 2021.
